This room and the following two were renovated in 1797, during the
Napoleonic age, when the Municipal Palace was refurbished, in order to
house the new Republican Directory.
The painted decoration, an Allegory of Virtues and Arts, is the work of
Giovanni Battista Frulli (1765-1837) and Francesco Stagni (1747-1830).
The ceiling is subdivided into monochrome architectural frames, like
those in room 14. In the middle, inside an oval framed by a hexagon,
are several musical instruments, laurel wreaths and sheet music. Four
monochrome squares, inscribed in ovals with a pink background, frame
the Cardinal Virtues.
In the four corners of the room are triumphs of arms with medallions on
top. On the two overdoors, against a blue background, are the
allegories of Peace and Abundance.
